Why freeze dried?

We love freeze dried food for 5 main reasons. 

  • Shelf life :: dehydrated food is shelf stable for 1 year on average due to the higher water content remaining in the food. Freeze dried food is shelf stable for up to 25 years.
  • Nutrition :: according to studies conducted at UC-Davis, freeze dried food retains most of its nutrients and once rehydrated has a very similar nutritional score to fresh retaining 97% of its original nutrients. In contrast, dehydrated food loses 40-50% of the original nutrients and although the nutrients still remain they are up to 1/2 of the original value.
  • Preparation :: freeze dried products are easy to prepare. Simply add water and in a few minutes you are ready to rock and roll as if the product is fresh.
  • Taste :: freeze dried food retains more of the flavor, original texture and natural scent. This is why many feel freeze dried food tastes better than dehydrated food, which uses heat instead of cold to reduce moisture thus affecting the flavor, texture and scent.
  • Weight :: freeze dried products reduce the water content in food up to 99% and dehydrated food at most reduced water content by 70% so the food will also weigh a lot less... key for anyone packing this food for travel, adventures or tactical reasons. 

How do I store my freeze dried garlic?

For the best shelf life we recommend you store your garlic out of direct sunlight and in a cooler shelf or pantry.

How do I track my order?

All of our parcels are shipped with Canada Post. 

Tracking instructions:

1. You will receive your tracking number by email 2 days after your order has been dispatched.

2. Go to click here and enter your tracking number and press the track button. You will then see the progress of your parcel.

What is The Garlic Ranchers returns and refunds policy?

As this is a perishable item we do not refund this item. If you have any issue with the quality please contact us at hey@garlicranchers.ca to discuss further.

I didn't receive a confirmation email?

Please make sure to check all folders in your inbox including the junk and spam folders. If you still cannot find your confirmation email please email hey@garlicranchers.ca to ensure you provided the correct email during checkout.

What if I made a mistake in my shipping address?

If you have made a mistake in your shipping address please email hey@garlicranchers.ca within 2 hours of placing the order. You must make the subject line 'CHANGE OF ADDRESS' and provide your full name, order number and corrected shipping address.

My order status is 'unfulfilled', what does this mean?

If your order status is shown as unfulfilled this simply means your order has not yet been dispatched, but the payment has been successful. Once your order has been dispatched you will receive an email to confirm your order has been fulfilled and another email providing you with a tracking number.
